Definition¶
A Manual Instance Action is rule logic a user runs on demand on a single instance. Like a rule it has a condition and one or more actions, but it never applies on its own and never waits for a scheduled rule to fire. It runs when a user asks for it, on the instance they are looking at.
Reach for one where the moment is the user's to choose: correcting a client's address after a phone call, setting a classification when a user decides it has to change, or refreshing values from an external system when someone needs them up to date.
Example¶
An action on the ontology Person, titled 'Update address', has the condition:
It asks the user for street, city and postal_code, and assigns them:
self.street := PARAMETERS.street
self.city := PARAMETERS.city
self.postal_code := PARAMETERS.postal_code
self.address_confirmed := true
The action is offered on every Person whose address is unconfirmed, and no longer offered once the assignment has set
address_confirmed to true.
