Definition

Structured information is an information type that groups several sub-fields together and lets the group repeat, with each repetition called an occurrence.

Min Amount and Max Amount are both optional. With neither set, the field starts out empty and a user can add and remove as many occurrences as they like. Setting Min Amount makes Atfinity create that many occurrences automatically, so a user finds them already there instead of having to add them, and the Remove action is withheld once only the minimum is left. Leaving Min Amount empty and setting it to 0 both mean no minimum. Setting Max Amount stops a user adding another occurrence once the count reaches it. If you lower Max Amount once the configuration is live, a case may already hold more than the new maximum. Atfinity removes empty occurrences to bring the case back within the maximum. Occurrences a user has entered data in are never removed, so the case shows an error if those still exceed it. Empty State Text is what the Case Manager shows while no occurrence exists. Editable Name lets a user give each occurrence its own name instead of a generated one.

Example

To record several addresses for a person, define a structured information with sub-fields for street, zip, and city. Each address is then one occurrence, so the work, home, and holiday addresses live in one field instead of in separate ones.

Displaying occurrences as a table

By default, the Case Manager stacks a structure's occurrences one below the other, which becomes hard to scan once there are more than a few. Display as Table shows each occurrence as a row instead, with information fields as columns. Only information fields become columns, so line breaks, buttons, and text items are left out of the table. A field's width in the layout, half or full row, also sets its relative column width in the table.
